Reveal's aji is Now Live, Triggering No-Cost Access Through 2025

Today marks a milestone we've been building toward for years. Reveal's aji GenAI review engine is now live and available to Reveal customers and partners at no cost through December 31, 2025.

If you've followed our journey at Reveal, you know that this is a very significant day for us—and, we hope, a pivotal moment for the broader legal community.

Seventeen years ago, when artificial intelligence was still a concept largely relegated to Spielberg films and IBM supercomputers, we set out with a singular mission: deliver a seamless, end-to-end discovery solution that speeds outcomes and reduces costs with AI. 

Today, we’re a step closer to realizing it.

After years of development and many months of collaboration, testing and refinement, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of Reveal aji, the first GenAI review engine purpose-built for how legal professionals work. 

Built For How Legal Professionals Work‍

The path to today's launch ran through the offices of the most well-respected Am Law firms, global consulting organizations, and leading legal service providers who participated, and engaged deeply, in our Early Access Program. These weren't beta testers but partners in a common cause who put aji through its paces in real-world matters, tested its workflows and outcomes one-to-one with leading competitors, and gave us thoughtful, no-holds-barred feedback that helped shape the product available to you today.

Indeed, it was their rigorous input that helped inform aji’s approach, which seeks to deliver transparency, confidence, and predictability to processes that till now have been hindered by guessing games and black boxes.

Four Unique Differentiators‍

With aji, we seek to directly confront the concerns and limitations associated with the first wave of GenAI review tools. Specifically…  

aji removes “prompt fear”: Among the biggest challenges associated with GenAI review is navigating prompt or “definition” creation. Users face blank fields and the daunting task of feeding the LLM just the right words to identify the correct documents and accurately code them. This typically yields rounds of potentially costly iterations and, ultimately, a scenario where you lock in the prompt, cross your fingers, and hope for the best. aji’s AI Advisor gives you the tools to create definitions with confidence, providing specific, actionable recommendations that improve the quality of the prompt. It hones in on acceptable document formats, suggests relevant acronyms (like recommending “CDWR” for "California Department of Water Resources”), and highlights strong elements in definitions that include specific actions, timeframes, and measurable criteria.

aji shows its work: every decision aji makes during Calibration and GenAI review comes with a clear explanation, supporting citations and documentation, and audit-ready detail. Coding determinations also link directly to the highlighted portions of underlying documents so that reviewers can quickly verify decisions. If you associate AI with “black box,” we’re putting those concerns to rest once and for all.  

aji calibrates on a small sample of documents: One of aji’s most innovative features is its calibration workflow, which allows teams to test and refine their approach on small sample sets before committing to full-scale review. Documents representative of those the user seeks to identify with AI can be selected manually. But where aji really shines is in its workflow integration with ASK, Reveal’s GenAI fact-finding and analysis engine, which will automatically select documents that best reflect the definition. Teams can calibrate aji with as few as 25 documents, where the AI will classify the documents in terms of agreement with the definition (e.g. strongly agree, agree, borderline, and so forth) and then be compared to human classifications of the same 25 documents, providing a fast, low-cost way to achieve confidence before running across larger document sets. 

aji delivers flexible review modes: Hybrid Mode flips the traditional model by starting with control sets created by the subject matter expert and then using GenAI to continue training a classifier until it reaches specified precision and recall targets. This approach combines the tried-and-true reliability and speed of technology-assisted review with the recommendations, explanations and citations of GenAI, creating a solution that’s defensible and lightning fast. It also acts as a powerful cost control, where GenAI can be deployed in a targeted fashion and as needed. Early testers often came to the same conclusion: “this is the way forward.”
